Azerbaijan has been one of the countries effectively fighting the coronavirus pandemic, which the whole world has been facing since the end of 2019, from the first day. International organizations, including the World Health Organization, as a result of the state taking measures to prevent the widespread spread of the virus under the direct control of the head of state, taking important measures to protect the health and safety of people, creating infrastructure in the shortest time, building new modular type hospitals, as well as to compensate for the damage caused by the virus to the economy, entrepreneurs, citizens were shown Azerbaijan's fight against coronavirus as an example. Our country has become an example and we not only appreciate the activities carried out within the country, but also say thanks to its own international initiatives in this direction. The fact that Azerbaijan provides assistance to many countries in need during these difficult days puts it among the first countries in the world to launch a broad vaccination campaign, having received the first vaccines against the virus. As a result of this comprehensive struggle, non-governmental organizations in our country have not recorded deaths from coronavirus. Azerbaijan State Advanced Training Institute for Doctors named after A. Aliyev is also actively involved in the implementation of measures to combat COVID-19. About 5,000 specialist doctors, nurses working in many clinics, hospitals and polyclinics of the republic, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (including the internal troops), the Ministry of Justice, the Central Customs Hospital, the Medical and Sanitary Center were involved in trainings on anti-epidemic measures and biosafety against new coronavirus infection, conducted at the departments of the Institute. The Department of Air Transport, and this work continues now. At the same time, the Institute's staff took part as teachers in mobile training courses organized in many regions of our country.
Therefore, the 3rd Eurasian Conference on the topic ”Coronavirus pandemic: diagnosis, treatment and complications" scheduled for April 27-28, 2022 in Baku. It is a manifestation of the assessment of the systematic work carried out in our country with this infection. The conference, which began it’s work on April 27, 2022 at 10:00 am, was organized by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The rector of the Azerbaijan State Advanced Training Institute for Doctors named after A. Aliyev, Professor Nazim Gasimov, said that the systematic fight against the pandemic in Azerbaijan has been bearing fruit from the first day. From the very first days, our country has been effectively fighting coronavirus infection, which has become the number one disaster in the world, coordinated measures were organized by the relevant state structures. A decrease in the number of infections, an increase in morbidity, and the absence of registration of mortality are among the achievements which were achieved. Therefore, at the international conference, which will begin its work today, extensive discussions will be held on the diagnosis, treatment and complications of this disease, as well as decisions will be made on which direction further work will be organized.
After the Rector's speech, the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played.
Then the co-chairs of the conference were the President of the Medical Association of Israel Zion Hagai, Professor of the Medical University of Astana of the Republic of Kazakhstan Ayman Musin, wished success.
In his speech, Deputy of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan Ilham Mammadov welcomed the participants of the conference and noted that the results of measures to combat the coronavirus pandemic organized by structures created on the direct instructions of the head of state proved the timeliness and correctness of the decisions and instructions taken.
Then the participants of the conference were shown a video address by the co-chairman of the conference, Rector of Kazan State Medical University of the Russian Federation, Professor Alexey Sozinov.
In her speech, Associate Professor of the State Medical and Pharmaceutical University of the Republic of Moldova Suveika Luminica also noted the key role of vaccination in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and spoke about the search for new drugs to treat the disease. Then a video was shown on measures to combat the COVID-19 pandemic in our country.
After the demonstration of the video, Professor Yehuda Schoenfeld (Israel), Professor Munis Dundar (Turkey), Professor Rosa Begaydarova (Kazakhstan), Associate Professor Tekyar Eyvazov (Azerbaijan), Professor Albert Pinkhasov (Israel), Professor Guljan Abuova (Kazakhstan) presented to the conference participants the results of scientific papers on diagnosis, treatment and complications COVID-19 infections. After the break, the conference continued it’s work today with the presentation of scientific reports by Turkish, Israeli, Russian, Kazakh, Georgian and Azerbaijani scientists demonstrating various aspects of the fight against COVID-19 infection.
